An absolutely essential primer for beginning to think about public library construction projects. The author knows her stuff and her book should be on every public library administrator's reading list for when the golden-moment happens: that happy time when a public library will be newly built or renovated. It is also chock full of real world examples of library projects gone wrong that offer words of wisdom from a wider public library perspective. Some great nuggets from the book include: When assessing the existing collection: "Don't forget to assess the average age of copyright date of your collection;" Operating with the in-person user experience in mind, "What do people do in your library? Are they happy? What language are they speaking? [...]Who's having the best time at the library? [...]What about the signage? Is it negative...[?]"
