A fantastic read with lots of spine chilling moments, making you wonder who prowls around us. I couldn't put the book down and finished it in record time. A must read if you were born & raised in South Africa in the 80's & 90's

Realities of social dysfunction

I could not put this book down! It was spine chilling to read all the accounts of murders which South Africans have been exposed to in the media. It is sad that society has produced such evil perps. Well done Piet, you are a remarkable human being, the police force needs more "old school" and honorable men in its ranks. This book allows us to indulge in the many of the sacrifices you have made for the sake of the public and for that, I salute you.

Bought the Afrikaans version of this book, as a South African living in the Unite States this was an excellent way to receive books from back home instantly! The author does a great job in telling the story about Piet Byleveld and the crimes he solved.

This is an excellent book and Paddington is a lovable bear. This particular translation into Spanish is slightly questionable at times - where on occasion it feels as though the interpretation was very literal - but it's not so jarring as to take away from the overall charm of the book. It gets the message across to Spanish-speaking readers well enough, with a few pauses along the way to figure out what a certain expression or word means in Spain that is not used in Latin America. I will continue to search for other translations, but overall, this is a nice interpretation that tells the story. I would recommend it to be read to children of 6 years and up.

Lovely...inside and out.

We love this book and Paddington's occurrences that we just had to have it in our collection. Both my boys (4 & 10) ask me to read it to them all the time. The translation uses a Spanish used in Spain... Being from Latin America, we quickly noted the difference but, it is Spanish nevertheless. We love it and wished there were more of Paddington's books in Spanish.

An absolutely essential primer for beginning to think about public library construction projects. The author knows her stuff and her book should be on every public library administrator's reading list for when the golden-moment happens: that happy time when a public library will be newly built or renovated. It is also chock full of real world examples of library projects gone wrong that offer words of wisdom from a wider public library perspective. Some great nuggets from the book include: When assessing the existing collection: "Don't forget to assess the average age of copyright date of your collection;" Operating with the in-person user experience in mind, "What do people do in your library? Are they happy? What language are they speaking? [...]Who's having the best time at the library? [...]What about the signage? Is it negative...[?]"

About the Author
Robert C. Solomon (1942-2007) was internationally renowned as a teacher and lecturer in philosophy. He was Quincy Lee Centennial Professor and Distinguished Teaching Professor at the University of Texas at Austin. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Michigan and over the course of his career taught at numerous institutions, including Princeton University, the University of Pittsburgh, the University of Auckland, and the University of California, in addition to the University of Texas. He authored more than 40 books, including INTRODUCING PHILOSOPHY, A SHORT HISTORY OF PHILOSOPHY, THE PASSIONS, IN THE SPIRIT OF HEGEL, ABOUT LOVE, ABOVE THE BOTTOM LINE, Fourth Edition (with Clancy Martin), ETHICS AND EXCELLENCE, THE JOY OF PHILOSOPHY, and TRUE TO OUR FEELINGS, and he was co-editor of TWENTY QUESTIONS, Fifth Edition (with Lee Bowie and Meredith Michaels), and SINCE SOCRATES (with Clancy Martin).

Clancy Martin has published textbooks and articles on business ethics, normative ethics, and 19th century European philosophy. In 2003 he co-authored, also with Robert Solomon, the third edition of ABOVE THE BOTTOM LINE. He is an assistant professor at the University of Missouri at Kansas City, and has taught at Southwestern University, St. Edward's University, and the University of Texas at Austin.

Supriyo Datta is the Thomas Duncan Distinguished Professor in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Purdue University. It's just not finished.

The book is easy to read. Has some good information. However:

Nothing that hasn't been seen on the internet, or other books.

He claims to have clients yet doesn't list any credentials. Offensively he makes some pretty broad generalization as to why women stay in bad situations. Victims stay in bad situations for a multitude of reason. The author say it is because there is something wrong with the victim. Blaming the victim doesn't fly with me.

The author does not go deep enough in explaining the under tied of the personality of the each man. For example some men who are leaches not only get into your life and home but are impossible to get out of your life and home. They make it very clear you are not safe. These people have no boundaries! They will use and psychologically abuse their own children to keep you trapped and abused.

The book has good bones. I would just like the author finish the job he started.

Absolutely THE BEST book I've read on relationships, men, and dating ...and I've read alot!

This was a really GREAT read. Very informative and straight forward. I loved EVERYTHING about this book! I loved the brutal honesty. This book provides awareness and knowledge on the many issues many women have problems in (men and relationships). I have learned how to identify red flags and warning signs but more importantly to look within when it comes to my own dating patterns. It can be challenging to change our mindsets and start doing things differently but necessary if we want to be treated the way we deserve.

I do not like books with contents that do not go with my ...

Single women especially must read this book. I mean read all of it. As a Christian, I choose what books to read and which ones not to read. I do not like books with contents that do not go with my belief as a Christian. When I read the bible, I realize how many things were going on in bible days, and some of them we have not even heard of.
Nevertheless, I will have to ask God to forgive me after I finish with this one. I do not like some of the languages, but I must admit that this is a good book for me. I am reading it and I am still a Christian. It is what it is about “life” on a whole.
Thank you, Author Colin Tate “IS THIS THE MAN.” I just have to ignore the languages, though.
I spoke with Author Tate not long ago via Facebook. I asked him a few questions, and he told me to read the book. Well, everything I asked him is in the book.
Besides, the bible, of course, this is one of the best books ever written, I read it and if you can ignore the language, of course, you will learn something. WOW. What an awesome writer you are.
I have to pause after each chapter to take a breath and absorb what I just read so I can get ready for the next chapter. It is very direct. It got me so engaged and obsessed, I do not know what to do with myself.
I do not want the book to get done. Many times ladies including me ask men questions, but this is the perfect chance to learn for yourself some things that you may never know anywhere else. Have a good read. I am already worried about the some of the characters in the book and what may have happened to them now.

Rad Physics for dummies

Radiation oncologists are typically give Khan's book as the bible for physics study for the boards. The problem with Khan is that its dense, turgid prose presumes a background in physics. Most of us aren't Phds in the field. Johns and Cunningham is worse in that it may as well be the text towards getting you that PhD.

Mind you, you'll still need Khan around to fill in someblanks.This book is particularly thin on brachy and radioisotopes. But this book touches upon all the topics you need to know. It is an excellent primer for the average radonc resident looking to get the concepts and formulations behind rad physics, to pass the boards, and ultimately, to hire her own physicist for the clinic.

Excellent for networking newbies and experts alike

The business of selling both ourselves, our products and services seems to have come full circle. In the old days before supermarkets we would buy everything we needed from the local store, we knew who the traders were, we knew the people that would be able to best solve our problems. Then came mass marketing and mass shopping, suddenly the rules of the game changed and we were buying on price; often ending up unhappy with the end result.

With the advent of social networking online, we are once again becoming used to buying the things we want and need based on recommendations and suggestions from our friends.We are once again familiar with the reality and practicality of the `recommendation'.

This change has been a boon for the experienced networker, whose skills are honed to within an inch of their life. But what about those people who have yet to tread the networking boards, who know that `word of mouth selling' is important but don't know what to focus on or where to start? Enter Andy Lopata and Recommended. This book is brilliant for both beginner and `expert' alike; through practical step-by-step processes with excellent advice and stories to illustrate his explanations. This is definitely a `must read' for everyone who is engaged in word of mouth selling, whether of their own books, products or services or someone elses.

Unique among the category

There are very few well-written self-improvement/business productivity books out there, and this is one of them. I'm not usually a fan of this genre, as I find them typically self-aggrandising and not very useful. I am thrilled to have found this book, then - Andy Lopata is an elegant writer who manages to impart really useful information and be motivational (in a matter-of-fact way) at the same time. You might think there isn't much new to add to the world of referral networking, but I'd say you are wrong. It's incredible to think how much you can get out of your current network, if only you do it right. I can't recommend this book highly enough and I've really enjoyed it. It's well worth the small investment in time.

Explore your true self and intuition when stuck in a rut.

I never liked journaling and found no use for it, except feeling stupid and having nothing that seemed significant to write about. THIS BOOK turns THE NON-JOURNALER INTO A WRITER by helping you work through your feelings with prompts and ideas that really make you think. After just 8 days into the 40 I made some major realizations and had to stop myself from rushing through it. But the main idea of the book is to help you to slow down and listen to yourself.

Wonderful Journal for Self-Discovery

I had this book for three years and had not used it. While in India for one month, I decided to give the book a try. It was the best journal to write in at the best time possible. It helped to change my life. I absolutely love it! The questions are thought provoking and there are a few things that you might not want to write about. You will find some of the questions a little tough to answer, but the insight you will gain from writing about "scary" topics is amazing. As you complete the journal you will find out so much about yourself and what is really important to you.

One of the better ones I think

This is basically a spriritual workbook/journal. It's not just a blank book, but an actual guided workbook that asks you questions and gives you exercises. This would be a great journal to bring with you on a 40 day meditation or yoga retreat (if you can afford to go off and leave work for that long)... but a book like this is also very good for people who can't get away from work for that long and yet still want to take a 40 day retreat without turning into a monk for 40 days and leaving their lives completely. It asks you to take 15 minutes a day at least for the next 40 days to be alone with yourself, without any other distractions and just be with yourself rather than be the "you" that your family and everyone else expects you to be- which more times than not is so convincing we often start to believe that we really are that person they expect, when in reality that is just a shell that your family and environment has molded over the real you. The author mentions many different religions in the beginning of the book, but it's obvious in the writing that she feels the strongest connection with Judaism. Those who are Jewish or feel a connection to it in some way may appreciate this however people of other faiths are definitely not excluded.
